Bariatric Surgery
Weight loss surgery is known as bariatric surgery and involves surgical procedures done on the stomach and/or intestines to help a person lose weight. This is usually considered an option for persons who have a Body Mass Index (BMI) above 40. It is also an option for people with a BMI of 35 to 40 who are experiencing serious health problems as a direct result of the obesity such as Type II diabetes, sleep apnea, or heart disease. Lower-risk procedures such as gastric banding and gastric sleeve are sometimes offered to patients with a BMI of 30-35 on a case-by-case basis.
We offer all 4 main bariatric surgeries available today, as well as bariatric revisions in select cases. We feel a comprehensive approach is in the best interest of our patients and do not subscribe to a one-size-fits-all solution to obesity.
If you feel like surgery is not for you, but you still want to lose weight and improve your overall health, we offer the non-surgical OBALON gastric balloon, as well as comprehensive medical weight loss programs with pharmacologic support such as Adipex (Phentermine), Contrave, or Saxenda.
